With an abundance of sea life and colourful coral, the underwater playground is filled with beauty and excitement. In order to preserve the delicate marine ecosystem, our two Maldives resorts have been implementing innovative and effective initiatives to minimize their impact on the environment. In addition to providing snorkelers and divers with clear briefing on responsible diving through Best Dives Maldives, both Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives and Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives are participating in the ‘Green Fins Project’, the world’s only set of environmental standards for scuba diving and snorkelling centres.
The scoring for ‘Green Fins’ is based on the lowest score of 0 and the highest score of 330. The lower the score, the better. The recent ‘Green Fins’ assessment for Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa produced a score of 61, a significant improvement on last year’s score of 121. Centara Grand is one of the top performers in the Maldives. Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa scored 115, which will only continue to improve as this is their first year with the project.
These initiatives complete our EarthCheck policy designed to minimize coral damage and ensure marine life protection. Both resorts currently have their Silver Certification from EarthCheck.Last Modified Date: 2015.07.06
