Celebrate Hari Raya Nyepi, Bali’s day of absolute silence, on Saturday 21 March 2015. Hari Raya Nyepi marks the New Year for Balinese Hindus. On this auspicious occasion, many ceremonies and rituals are held throughout Bali whilst the island comes to an absolute standstill. Preparations and events held beforehand include the Purification Ceremony, locally known as Melasti, on Thursday 19 March 2015, where participants will head to the beach in procession for ritual cleaning. The Ogoh Ogoh parade, climax of Nyepi’s rituals, is on 20 March 2015. During these solemn hours, priests throughout Bali will perform Tawur Agung, a ceremony designed to appease the demons and honour gods.
We are delighted to announce that Centra Taum Seminyak Bali has been awarded a Gold Medal in the Tri Hita Karana Awards 2014 for the second time. These awards recognize hospitality operators for adopting Balinese Hindu philosophy on harmonious relationships between the community, environment and business. Tri Hita Karana is the Balinese Hindu philosophy on life, which literally translates as the Three Causes to Prosperity, and whose doctrine explains that peace and liberty are obtainable in life only when humans respect and observe three harmonious relationships between humans and the gods, humans and nature and among themselves.
The awards were presented at a ceremony organised by Bali Travel Newspaper and Yayasan Tri Hita Karana on 29 November 2014 at the Art Centre, at Denpasar in Bali.
The awards were first implemented in 2000, and this year saw 116 hotels in Bali participating in the scheme. In 2004, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UN-WTO) endorsed the awards and the Tri Hita Karana concept was included in Bali’s tourism law in 2009. The awards gained further support when in 2010 the philosophy became part of the Bali Clean and Green roadmap.
Centra Taum Seminyak Bali received the Best Service Excellence of the Year Award 2014 as part of Indonesia’s Best 50 Hotels and Restaurants Awards from The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism. The award was presented to Hotel Manager Agus Suananda in a ceremony on 18 July.
“We are all thrilled to have won this prestigious award, and this will encourage us to constantly work to improve our service standards,” said Agus Suananda.
Receiving the award, Mr. Suananda thanked the organizing committee and said that the award was a tribute to each member of the hotel’s team.
