Centra Taum Seminyak takes second prestigious Gold Medal at Bali's Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards 2014

We are delighted to announce that Centra Taum Seminyak Bali has been awarded a Gold Medal in the Tri Hita Karana Awards 2014 for the second time. These awards recognize hospitality operators for adopting Balinese Hindu philosophy on harmonious relationships between the community, environment and business. Tri Hita Karana is the Balinese Hindu philosophy on life, which literally translates as the Three Causes to Prosperity, and whose doctrine explains that peace and liberty are obtainable in life only when humans respect and observe three harmonious relationships between humans and the gods, humans and nature and among themselves.

The awards were presented at a ceremony organised by Bali Travel Newspaper and Yayasan Tri Hita Karana on 29 November 2014 at the Art Centre, at Denpasar in Bali. 

The awards were first implemented in 2000, and this year saw 116 hotels in Bali participating in the scheme. In 2004, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UN-WTO) endorsed the awards and the Tri Hita Karana concept was included in Bali’s tourism law in 2009. The awards gained further support when in 2010 the philosophy became part of the Bali Clean and Green roadmap.


Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives wins Leading All Inclusive award

Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives has been named the Maldives’ Leading All Inclusive resort in the MATATO Awards 2014. The awards are presented each year by the Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO), which represents more than 50 organisations in Maldives. Scoring for the awards is based on online votes from travel agents, operators and guests, and also on a rigorous inspection by judges, which includes a judging panel in Male and a visit by judges to the resorts.

The resort features a cashless island experience with its Ultimate All-Inclusive programme, which includes daily dining, champagne breakfast, water sports, activities and excursions, daily spa treatments, and fabulous accommodations in beachfront suites or pool villas, or in overwater villas.

Two Centara Grand resorts recognised in the Now Travel Asia Awards 2014

Centara Hotels & Resorts wins Best Asia Pacific Hotel and Resort Website Award

The award ceremony took place at ITB Asia on 31st October. The Travel Mole APAC Web Awards are amongst the Asia Pacific’s most prestigious accolades within the travel industry, recognising the development and deployments of social initiatives and mobile and web platforms.


Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi launches Water bottling plant

Further to being awarded EarthCheck Silver Certification for its ongoing commitment towards environmental responsibilities and sustainable programmes, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi has launched its own water bottling plant using a reverse osmosis system, also known as hyper filtration.

This process allows removing particles as small as ions from a solution and consequently purifies water, removes salts and impurities, and improves the water’s colours, taste and properties. The resort commenced distribution in September this year, with an extremely positive reaction from our guests.

“We have been working on this concept for some time now, and have followed the pattern that we have at our Centara Grand Island Resort in the Maldives,” says David Good, vice president for operations at Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“Our bottling plant filters the water, which comes from underground wells, and uses renewable glass bottles rather than plastic bottles. We save on unnecessary use of fuel in transporting bottled water by boat, and we do not have the environmental problem of disposing of plastic bottles.
