Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives awarded Green Fins certification for environmentally responsible diving

Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives, which has always operated a strong policy on environmental protection and conservation, has become the first resort in the South Ari Atoll to receive Green Fins certification for environmentally responsible diving.

The certification confirms that the resort has participated in Green Fins training on environmentally friendly diving and snorkelling, and has undergone an assessment of compliance with the Green Fins Code of Conduct.

Green Fins is a programme of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Reef-World Foundation and is managed in Maldives by a national team led by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Centara wins 5 Top Asia awards in SmartTravelAsia 2014 poll

(Bangkok, Thailand, 5th September 2014) We are proud to announce that Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin and Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui have won 5 Top Asia awards in the SmartTravelAsia 2014 poll.

The open poll, which is now in its 10th year, ran for three months from May to July and is based on findings from travellers who undertake at least 12 air trips each year.

Centara joins Fin Free Thailand campaign to abolish shark fin menus

(Bangkok, Thailand, 29th August 2014)
Centara Hotels & Resorts has joined the Fin Free Thailand campaign to stop the serving of shark fin dishes. Centara hotels in Pattaya have been the first to end the serving of shark fin, with others in the group following later this year.

Fin Free is a global campaign that supports individuals to organise on a local basis and lobby against the sale and possession of shark fin in cities, provinces, states and countries worldwide. The Fin Free Thailand campaign is backed by prominent local and international conservation groups, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Embassy to Thailand.

Coral growing programme an added attraction for snorkellers at Centara Grand Island Resort Maldives
