Centara Maldives helps to protect life under the sea with ‘Green Fins Project’

With an abundance of sea life and colourful coral, the underwater playground is filled with beauty and excitement.  In order to preserve the delicate marine ecosystem, our two Maldives resorts have been implementing innovative and effective initiatives to minimize their impact on the environment.  In addition to providing snorkelers and divers with clear briefing on responsible diving through Best Dives Maldives, both Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives and Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives are participating in the ‘Green Fins Project’, the world’s only set of environmental standards for scuba diving and snorkelling centres.

The scoring for ‘Green Fins’ is based on the lowest score of 0 and the highest score of 330. The lower the score, the better. The recent ‘Green Fins’ assessment for Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa produced a score of 61, a significant improvement on last year’s score of 121.  Centara Grand is one of the top performers in the Maldives.  Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa scored 115, which will only continue to improve as this is their first year with the project.

These initiatives complete our EarthCheck policy designed to minimize coral damage and ensure marine life protection. Both resorts currently have their Silver Certification from EarthCheck

28 Centara Properties recognized with the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

Bangkok, Thailand – July 1, 2015 - Massive online booking portal TripAdvisor’s Certificates of Excellence for 2015 have been awarded to 28 Centara hotels and resorts in 2015, in locations as diverse as Vietnam, Thailand and the Maldives. This represents an almost 50% increase upon last year’s performance for the brand. The internationally-recognized accolade, which represents online users’ consensus as to which establishments consistently deliver outstanding travel experiences, celebrates the best in accommodations, attractions and eateries across the world.

The enormous popularity of TripAdvisor can be largely attributed to the efficacy of the ‘user reviews’ that the site highlights, which are often viewed by travellers as more genuine and insightful than corporate marketing material.

“We are thrilled to have been recognized in this extremely visible manner; although we performed well last year, to see so many more Centara properties receiving TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence means that as we are expanding our range of properties, we are continuing to do things right,” commented Centara CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat. “It’s also a hearty endorsement of the consistently good work of management and the team at each property.”
