SOM TUM THAI (GREEN PAPAYA SALAD)

If you’ve ever visited Thailand, you’ll know you can find this spicy, Thai staple on nearly every street corner. It’s so popular and well loved by locals for reasons of which you’re about to find out. We hope you enjoy trying out this dish at home until you’re able to visit us once again and taste it in true Thai style!

Ingredients (1 portion)

  1. Sliced Green Papaya 100g.
  2. Sliced Carrot 20g.
  3. String Bean 30g.
  4. Tomato Small 130g.
  5. Bird’s Eye Chili 2g.
  6. Thai Garlic 15g.
  7. Dried Shrimp 10g.
  8. Dried Salted Prawn 5g.
  9. Fish Sauce 20g.
  10. Palm Sugar 10g.
  11. Tamarind Juice 10g.
  12. Roasted Peanuts 20g.
  13. Lime 1 piece

Method

  1. Pound and slice the Chili and Garlic together
  2. Add to the mixing bowl
  3. Add the sliced Papaya and sliced Carrot to the mixture
  4. Add Fish Sauce, Tamarind Juice, and Palm Sugar to the mixing bowl. Mix
  5. Squeeze one Lime into the mixture
  6. Mix in the sliced Papaya and sliced Carrot
  7. Add the String Beans and Tomatoes
  8. Toss the salad and mix together
  9. Sprinkle in the Roasted Peanuts, Dried Shrimp, and Dried Salted Prawn
