Phuket Town

Shopping at Phuket Town and Central Festival

The soul of Phuket is here in the Old Town, for the island has a long and colourful history. Phuket Town appeals to holidaymakers with its host of colourful shophouses designed in a Sino-Portuguese style and nowadays house arty coffee shops and restaurants.  Discover the town's network of narrow alleyways complete with Chinese Taoist shrines, as well as a host of opportunities to buy artworks and curios along with clothing and accessories. Phuket Town is also known for its bubbling blend of music, art and food. Central Festival Phuket is a more contemporary addition to Phuket’s shopping scene. Located near Phuket Town, Central Festival Phuket truly is a one-stop destination, offering you a large selection of retail outlets that cannot be found elsewhere on the island.

Phi Phi Islands

Koh Phi Phi

With long stretches of powdery white sand spilling into crystal clear waters, towering limestone cliffs and jungle-clad interiors, the six islands that make up Koh Phi Phi have everything one would expect of a tropical paradise. Phi Phi Ley, home to popular Maya Bay, Bamboo Island, Yung Island, Bida Nok, and Bida Nai are unspoiled islands protected by National Park status and surrounded by warm waters teeming with exotic marine life, making them popular options for snorkelling and diving day trips from Phuket.

Karon Beach

Karon Beach is a wide, fine stretch of sand that stretches over four kilometres. More chilled-out than Patong Beach and quieter, Karon Beach offers plenty of space for beach games along with a variety of water sports. There are also longtail boats for hire.

Phuket offers no less than six regionally renowned golf courses for you to tee off in style. Set on 730 acres of land in a secluded valley north of the island that overlooks Phuket’s hinterlands, the Blue Canyon Country Club is an award-winning golfing destination. The addition of The Lakes Course in 1999 presents water hazards on 17 out of 18 holes. The 18th hole reputedly is one of the best in the region. The Kathu area presents three high-class golf courses: the Red Mountain Golf Club, the Loch Palm Golf Club and he island’s very first golf course, Phuket Country Club.

Phuket Big Buddha

One of the island’s most revered landmarks and must-visit destinations, Phuket’s Big Buddha sits atop Nakkerd Hill, between Chalong and Kata. The 45-metre high image can be seen from afar, while Nakkerd Hill offers sweeping vistas over Phuket Town, Kata and Karon beaches, and Chalong Bay.

With a choice of dive sites considered as being amongst the world’s most fascinating, the Andaman Sea is a tropical paradise for diving enthusiasts. Clear waters, dramatic limestone formations dominating the horizon, and splendid corals are the key reasons for the region’s popularity with divers. To the east side of the island lie Shark Point, Anemone Reef, the King Cruiser shipwreck and the Phi Phi Islands, all of which are suitable for one-day dive trips. The paradise islands of Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi, off the southern tip of Phuket, are made for thrilling drift dives with great visibility, while the Hin Daeng offshore pinnacle has vertical drop-offs of 60 metres and more. Diverse marine life, including whale sharks and leopard sharks as well as colourful living corals are highlights of any Andaman Sea diving experience.
