We aspire to operate our business ethically and sustainably in a balanced manner across the entire portfolio, and are committed to integrating sustainable practices throughout our hotel operations whilst delivering excellent service for our guests.
We are committed to operating our business to a high degree of ethical, social and environmentally responsible standards whilst providing an exceptional level of Thai hospitality. We aspire to encourage our stakeholders towards these same ideals, and we are committed to selecting environmentally friendly produce which in turn allows us to further incorporate sustainable development into our products and services. We are also committed to ensuring a respectful, safe and healthy environment for our employees.
Centara is committed to sustainable growth and success in accordance with good corporate governance considering the benefits of all parties involved in the realization of social responsibility and maintaining a policy against all forms of corruption. Therefore, we wish to ask you in refraining from giving gifts or other compensations to company personnel.
All our executives and employees would like to accept your kindness and gratitude. We are ready to perform duties with responsibility and sincerity to all relevant parties with transparency and fairness for our long-lasting business relationship.
Centara Hotels & Resorts has identified and established the following seven key objectives to address our sustainability achievement.
Centara Hotels & Resorts has since July 2008 worked with EarthCheck, a leading global benchmarking and certification programme for sustainable tourism, to monitor Centara's environmental and social performance against rigorous benchmarking standards.
To fulfil EarthCheck programme requirements, Centara is audited and issued with a benchmarking report that indicates results across ten key performance areas.
For more information on EarthCheck, please go to www.earthcheck.org.
Each Centara property develops its own sustainable policy using EarthCheck benchmarking tools and then undergoes a process of collecting and submitting data to assess performance against core indicators. Once the first step is satisfactorily evaluated, including approval by an independent third-party auditor, the property is eligible for Bronze status.
Next comes the focus on continuity and the sustaining of initiatives and performance, and in this way the property progresses up the certification ladder.
Each year, the individual properties are assessed against key performance areas. When they pass, the property is certified to the appropriate level: Silver for the one to four years of continuous certification, Gold for five to nine years, and Platinum for ten and above.

Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld is a flagship hotel that has 505 guestrooms and is the only fully integrated five-star hotel, convention centre and lifestyle complex in the heart Bangkok.
The hotel opened in late 2008 and began immediately working with EarthCheck, the international organisation that sets benchmarks for environmental awareness and conservation for the international hospitality industry, and which provides on-line tools for implementation of programmes.
The entire complex aims for the highest standards in green tourism by operating CEPPER, its own environmental programme. CEPPER (community, eco technology, environment and ecology, partnership, product, education, recycle) relates to all aspects of hotel operations and is operated in conjunction with international environmental organisations, non-governmental organisations, and Thai government departments and agencies.

The first hotel within the Centara Hotels & Resorts portfolio, Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok opened in 1983 and is a famous landmark on the northern side of the city. A five-star property with 565 guestrooms, the hotel is a major events venue and connects directly to Central Plaza shopping and lifestyle complex. Both the hotel and the shopping complex completed full renovation in 2012, a process that included a full review of energy, waste management and other environmental programmes.
Water, energy, food, commodities and waste requirements all impact the economics of everything we do, so in addition to our environmental responsibilities our sustainability policy is a business imperative. Every year we set ourselves targets to reduce our energy, water and waste consumption by using knowledge and technology.
Our Green Team leads our approach to sustainability management, and we educate our staff about recycling and waste segregation at work as well as in their personal environment.

Set in its own bay, directly on the beach and with a backdrop of national parkland, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi blends naturally into its dramatic environment of forest and limestone crags.
Conscious right from the beginning that the pristine beauty of its surroundings had to be protected, the hotel has always maintained a strict environmental programme. Designed to ensure staff awareness and involvement in specific green actions of each area of operation, the sustainability programme works in cooperation with guests and also with the local community, so that everyone becomes part of the environmental responsibilities.
Because of its location, many supplies to the hotel have to be brought in by boat, and as much sourcing as possible is done locally.

Centara believes that tourism and hospitality offer satisfying and rewarding careers for young people, and has received the Education and Training Award in the PATA Grand Awards 2013 for the training programme 4Cs: Centara Career Creation for Children.
Starting in 2011, Centara Hotels & Resorts has offered a programme called 4Cs: Centara Career Creation for Children to underprivileged students from Welfare Schools under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and to students with special needs, such as those with hearing and visual impairment. 4Cs has the sponsorship of the Office of the Basic Education Committee and the Department of Skill Development, which has granted partial financial support in terms of daily allowance, necessary equipment and training expenses.
Centara provides a basic hospitality training programme, followed by functional training in which the student is rotated through two different areas during the five-month course, with a choice of the food and beverage, kitchen, housekeeping or gardening departments. Once qualified, the student is offered a position at a Centara property, and can then go on to enjoy a successful career with the company.
