Songkran, the most vibrant festival in Thailand and known as the "Water Festival," occurs annually from April 13th for three days, marking the New Year according to the Thai lunar calendar. The entire nation of Thailand is enveloped in festive spirit during this time. Originally, it was a traditional custom to sprinkle water on the hands of Buddha statues and the elderly within families as a purification ritual. However, in recent years, this has evolved into a festival where people joyously splash water on each other throughout the streets. At the Centara Grand Hotel Osaka, which opened in 2023, we celebrate our first Songkran, offering a rich experience of Thai culture through various events right here in Namba, Osaka.

<Restaurant Event>
At the Thai restaurant "Suan Bua" located on the second floor of the hotel, on April 13th, during dinner time, our Thai chef de cuisine, Sompon Asaset, will showcase a buffet of traditional dishes from various regions of Thailand. The buffet, which includes a live kitchen, will feature an array of special dishes not usually on the menu, such as freshly grilled seafood like shrimp and scallops, Thai-style fried chicken, and Thai curry noodles. In addition, a wide selection of drinks representative of Thailand, including Thai beer, wine coolers, cocktails, Thai tea, mango shakes, and butterfly pea ice tea, will be available for unlimited enjoyment. Beyond dining, the restaurant will immerse you in Thai culture with vibrant decorations to celebrate the New Year, Muay Thai performances, and Thai dancers presenting exquisite Thai dances.
