The calendar has a way of narrowing toward its end. The lights go up, the invitations start arriving, and somewhere between the first candlelit dinner and the final countdown, the whole world seems to agree on one thing: this stretch of the year deserves to be spent well, and somewhere worth remembering.

It starts, fittingly, in Bangkok, where the skyline does double duty this year, first for Christmas Eve, then again for the countdown that follows. Head south to Pattaya and the pace changes entirely, the coastline slowing to a rhythm that only shows up once a year. Further along the coast, Van Don is newer to the map and about to host its very first festive season, while Hat Yai keeps things closer to home, built around long tables and longer stays at the table.
Further afield, the season takes on a different character altogether. Dubai, never one to underplay an occasion, brings its own scale of spectacle to the stretch. Japan does the opposite, marking the season in the smallest, most considered details rather than the loudest ones.
